After two-week vacation with main purpose of coming back to attend nephew's wedding in Wuhan, the best words to describe our feeling to the city we were mostly familiar would be these eight Chinese characters of "翻天覆地，换了人间". Wuhan starts to approach the speed of economic development that evidenced previously in the south and coast regions of China. In response to the 2008 financial crisis, Wuhan takes the advantage of central government's stimulating package. A few thousands of construction projects are undertaking simultaneously in Wuhan, including subways and high bridge free ways, the city is indeed upside down. We have used two (Wuchang and Hankou) of the three major railway stations in Wuhan, they are all close to the standards of some of the major stations in the Europe. You will appreciate a complete new city a few years from now, many of us would have a difficulty to find our way home. If I could call one of the few signs of the environmental recovery, we observed a more diverse group of birds existing in the backyard of my parents' apartment building within the city. For those Alumni whose time are limited to visit the Tongji Campus recently, here are the photos that could erase some of your home sick.
