2014 TJMCOAA_Plan and Executive Team

Dear alumni friends,

Over the last couple of weeks, I have the opportunity to communicate with many alumni regarding our association. I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support of our alumni and appreciation for all the past officers who volunteer their time and effort for this association. We are an association entirely run by volunteers and the resources for all the activities are donated by our alumni. Our association is growing rapidly and our members are becoming more and more diverse, some are well established in their own fields or profession, many are still in their training stage.

To continue to serve our members, here is our preliminary working plan this year:

• Merging and Upgrading the TJMCOAA website

• Scholarship Programs: Continue TJMCOAA-Lan Ding English competition and TJMCOAA scholarship program; Establish and finalize Postgraduate scholarship with Medjaden

• Alumni member connection: Publication by established alumni in various areas or profession; monthly newsletter; exploring possibility of alumni summer retreat

• Membership drive by encouraging and facilitating regional, class and professional group activities

• TJMCOAA bylaw revision by Board of Trustee

• Establishing residency application resource and network

• Establishing Tongji alumni communication platform between TJMCOAA and Tongji Student Groups

My executive team member include: Sijiu Shen (President), Erjia Wang (President Elect), Lanjing Zhang (Immediate Past President), Zhiwei Lai (Coordinator of Board of Trustees), Hu Ding (VP publication), Zhiyong Hong (VP membership), Duanping Liao (VP academic/career), Gangjian Qin (VP Finance), Digger Chen (VP IT/website)

It will take me too long to thank everyone who helps me to go through this transition. I do want to thank Lanjing Zhang for his support and he has done a fantastic job last year for our association. He is a real good example and role model for our younger alumni friends. Many thanks go to all the board trustee members particularly Gary Lu, Zhiwei Lai, Xiaojing Zhang and Henry Liu who offered me many suggestions and advice. I would like to thank all the past and current general board members – I wish I could talk to each one of you. Our association has reached the current status is all because of your leadership and contribution. I look forward to working with everyone and please feel free to contact me or any of our officers with any suggestions. Please let other alumni friends know about and join our association.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Chinese New Year!

Sijiu Shen
